Default Golem Creation

I've always wanted a game with a class/ability to create your own golem as a pet. Now, I have no idea how this would work, and I dont feel like making one, so somebody think up a way to implement it. Possibly an Artificer class, or skills for some other new class. I'd really like to know what people think.

Diablo has golems, fire golems, and steel or iron golems(dont recall exactly) and they went with necromancer.

i think that would be a job for elementalist where they can summon elementals to do their bidding.

Yeah just something like Water Elemental, Fire Elemental, Air Elemental etc where its an Elite and summons like another player for x amount of seconds... However it only does moderate dmg but just like slows them down if water, sets on fire with fire and air has 25% armor penetration etc :P

Being able to summon various golems as Necromancer and Elementalist would be great fun. Maybe as a necro you would have to capture X souls with a golem skill and then one would be created, for an Elementalist you would have to cast X number of skills using your chosen element whilst your summon X golem skill is active.

I think this could definately work, but I don't like the idea of keeping them as a pet, instead it should have a set amount of life without the ability to heal it (but no degen like minions), so once it takes X damage, it disappears forever.
